HEALTH PROMOTION
 
 

Health education is a social, educational and political action that enhances public awareness of health to foster healthy life styles and community actions in support of health. The health education and promotion program focuses on activities for advocacy, empowerment of people, built social support to enable people to make healthy choices and live healthy lives.

Special focus is given to areas such as, healthy lifestyles safe motherhood, child survival, and prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS/STD, family planning and reproductive health.

Efforts are made to create a supportive environment, which would have a positive influence on the health of the people by stimulating social support and placing the health issues high on the public agenda.

Facts and figures on health are gathered and used to demonstrate impact of health on development. Interested NGOs are encouraged and assisted to participate in health education and promotion programs.

Certain legislative actions are taken for reinforcing healthy living, consumer protection and public safety.

Media plays a vital roll in all aspects of health education and health promotion by transmitting public health messages regularly, which is supplemented by other health education materials and audio-visual aids.
