FOOD SAFETY

Food safety is an important issue as food exports form a pillar of the national economy and a large proportion of the population patronizes restaurants.

In general, Food safety involves three main areas, food exports, food imports, and catering establishments. Regulation related to the food safety laid down by the Ministry of Health is enforced by the Department of Public Health. This includes advertising and labeling of foodstuffs, Inspection of cafés, restaurants, and teashops and other food take away establishments, to ensure hygiene, and safety standards.
